Selective Pallet Rack
Selective Pallet Rack can be found in many makes and styles within the industry. The most commonly found roll-formed selective rack is Teardrop style. Selective rack can be set up stand-alone, back to back using row spacers as well as double deep reach configurations. Selective pallet rack although simple in design, is extremely effective storage media for almost any warehouse application. MWS works with you to select the correct pallet rack configuration for your warehouse layout.
Selective Teardrop Roll-Formed Upright Frames
Upright posts can be made of open c-sections or closed tube design called Superposts. Open c-section frames are most commonly used and they offer a wide range of gauges and capacities for cost effective storage solutions. Upright capacities are based on the gauge metal thickness used along with the maximum beam spacing used or unsupported span.
Superpost, more commonly known as “closed tube,” upright columns will provide 30 - 40% greater load capacities then same gauge open back c-section columns. Closed tube columns are cleaner due to the fact that there is no areas in which to trap dirt and debris.
Unarco - Interchangeable
Interchangeable or commonly known as “Teardrop” is a interlocking design with teardrop shaped punching on 2” centers along the face of the upright column. Unarco has different interlocking connections including the patented gravity lock design.
The floating gravity lock pin replaces older spring style locking pins that get bent, lost, or broken if beams are changed out. The floating pin never falls out or gets lost and performs well even if the beam should get hit by a forktruck or pallet load.
Load Beams are manufactured in a wide range of capacities. The gauge, thickness, length, and height of the load beam determines the capacity. Beams range from 2.5” tall @ 2,000# capacity to 6” tall @ 9,000# capacity. Commonly used are the step beams which have a 1 5/8” step to allow for drop in crossbars, pallet supports or wire decking.
T-Bolt Pallet Rack
T-Bolt Pallet Rack is a rigid, bolted design that saves time and money as it does not require installers to reach inside the column. The T-bolt head simply inserts through the beam connector and column and a quarter turn locks it into place. It is easily tightened at the front of the post. This front-end-only connection offers the structural strength of bolting with the fastest installation in the industry. T-Bolt style uprights are punched on 3” vertical centers.
Sturdi-Bilt/Wedge Lock: Unarco’s
Unarco s exclusive Sturdi-Bilt safety wedge lock connector eliminated pins, rods, rivets & even tools. The Wedge Lock connector is extremely strong. MWS, Inc. carries Sturdi-Bilt frames, load beams, and wedge locks in inventory to support customer’s Sturdi-Bilt needs.
Wire Decking
MWS, Inc. offers many wire decking options for your selective pallet rack or shelving. Wire decking is an effective cost solution providing support for heavy pallet loads or hand picked products.
MWS, Inc. stocks common sizes of 3 channel - 2,500# decks. With our QUICK SHIP program, our stock decks can be shipped in 1 to 2 business days.
Standard Waterfall
Standard Waterfall is the most commonly used design. These decks drop into place with ease.
Inside Waterfall
Inside Waterfall wire decking is intended for use where the customer wishes to leave the front or rear beams clear of wire or obstruction. Beams will be ready for labeling or bar coding.
Mesh Patterns
Wire decking mesh patterns are available in the following sizes:
• 2” x 4”
• 2” x 3”
• 2.5” x 4”
• 4” x 4”
• 2” x 2”
Gauge Steel
Many gauges of steel are available to help provide a cost effective solution for every application. Gauges available are:
• 2
• 4
• 5
• 6
Channel Supports
Channel Supports are used to pick up the load of the product. The weight of the product will determine how many channels are used. Channels can be inverted for “clean” applications. Using an inverted channel is more acceptable for food handling applications or anyone not wanting dust, dirt and debris to collect in the wire deck.
Hanging Dividers
Hanging Dividers can be made to run front to back or left to right, depending on your specific needs. Racks hook easily into decks above, providing easy seperation of products between beam levels. Installation is quick and easy to set up and change.
Clip Dividers
Clip Dividers are ideal for creating sections or compartments within your bays.
Carton Flow
Carton Flow can dramatically improve warehouse efficiency by organizing product and rotating stock automatically. Long, straight, dedicated lanes maintain product organization and consistent box presentation which helps reduce labor costs. Storage density can be increased up to 60% by using a minimum of 22% less floor space, thereby reducing building costs. Typically, Carton Flow systems use about half the floor space that standard pallet rack occupies picking from full pallet locations and the difference can be more dramatic when using multi-level systems.
MWS offers a variety of Carton Flow Solutions for any size warehouse and every price range. All systems are gravity-driven and perfect for applications with numerous SKUs. Stock presents on a First-In/First-Out basis, which ensures inventory rotation. Separating the loading aisle from the retrieval aisle allows pickers to operate more efficiently. Carton Flow, with its tilted shelves which improve visibility and order accuracy, is the perfect answer for split case or piece picking. Other options, such as impact decks and intermediate supports, can help guard against warehouse abuse and prolong system longevity. Carton Flow can be integrated with conveyors and other storage solutions to create functional pick modules and warehouse product picking efficiency.
UPICK traditional snap-in roller track makes shipping and installation of even the most complex modules simple. Interchangeable front/rear assemblies and side members make ordering and installation less confusing. Vertical 1-1/2" shelf adjustability allows for configuration ease and system versatility.
RhinoTrac
RhinoTrac full-width lay in roller units is a more durable solution than traditional carton flow for warehouses with heavy product traffic. Pre-assembled flow lanes with integrated supports simply lay into the rack and rest on the beams.

Pallet Flow
Pallet Flow Rack system is driven by gravity. It is perfect for fast-moving product with first-in/first out (FIFO) stock rotation. Heavy-duty skate wheels on sloped shelves allow palletized loads to flow forward for picking. The high-density storage utilizes space with fewer aisles. Pallet Flow can send pallets through standard pallet rack or to Carton Flow Systems consisting of multi-level picking modules to split loads into boxes or piece parts. Warehouse floor space utilization can be maximized with fewer aisles by storing pallets back to back. Unlike in static systems such as Drive-In racking, product flows back to a picking position and is easily accessible to the operator eliminating the need for the forklift to enter the rack system. Smooth rolling metal skate wheels on sturdy rails come preassembled so that installation only requires dropping them into bays and securing with a tek screw.
In-line wheels come on 2", 3" or 4" centers and staggered wheels are available for heavier loads on 1-1/2" or 2" centers. Flow lanes are easily created by dropping the track into the bay which fits securely in the step of the beam and a nylon stop at the end keeps the pallet in the bay. Pallets are loaded from one side of the racking and selected from the other. As each load is removed, the load behind moves forward automatically to the picking position. This system is ideal for rotating perishables or date-sensitive inventory.
Pushback
Push Back Rack systems are available in structural or roll-formed frames. The systems work by placing pallet loads on a series of nesting carts fed forward by gravity on rigid structural steel rails. As a pallet is loaded from the front, it pushes the pallet behind it back one position. When unloading, the front pallet is removed and the rear pallets automatically come forward to the front picking position. This allows for easily accessible Last-In-First-Out (LIFO) inventory management. Operators can store product from 2-5 pallets deep, with front-only loading from a single aisle. Push Back offers more versatile storage than Drive-In rack because each lane flows independently and vertical storage operates separately from lanes below. Multiple pick facings for a variety of SKUs can be stored and retrieved without disturbing other product above or below in a single-lane or double-lane format.
The Push Back solution is extremely low profile. This allows you to store up to five pallets deep and still create more stocking space and clearance between levels. Flow is achieved by gravity moving the carts along the inclined rails which are adjustable vertically to control pitch. Welded structural steel carts make installation easy and four fully-sealed and lubricated wheels per cart provide years of durable flow. Each cart can be designed to hold up to 3,000 lbs.
Lift truck drivers never enter the rack. The first pallet rests on the top cart and the second pallet pushes that pallet back to rest on the second cart. Additional pallets will rest on the nested carts below and the final pallet rests on the sturdy structural steel rails. As pallets are removed, each position behind flows forward gently until all product is finally brought to rest by rubber bumpers at the front of the system.
Drive-In / Drive-Thru
Drive-In / Drive-Thru Pallet Rack systems are a cost-effective solution to high-density storage. This static system has rails running the depth of the rack for pallet placement. The only limitation to the depth of pallet storage is the capability to drive deep within the system. The rack depth reduces the need for aisles and drastically increases cubed space utilization. Drive-In systems load and retrieve from the same side, creating Last-In-First-Out (LIFO) inventory retrieval organization is great for dense bulk storage consolidation of like products.
Drive-Thru systems load from one side and unload from the other to create First-In-First-Out inventory retrieval. Forklifts can enter from either aisle. The rigidity of Drive- Thru racking comes from its overhead bracing or from being tied to the overhead structure. It is an excellent option for freezers, providing low cost bulk storage along with guaranteed stock rotation.
Drive-In/Drive-Thru should be used for large volumes of like-product. Because of the high density storage, product is not easily accessible as pallets are stored floor to ceiling. However, dense storage can create space for up to seven times more product than floor stacking or three times more than pallet rack because pallets are stored back-to-back, floor-to-ceiling.
Cantilever
Cantilever Rack system is designed to manage loads of varying length and proportion. They can be completely accessible from the front without any of the horizontal restrictions of traditional pallet rack. Without front column obstruction, the entire length of the rack may be used for storage. For added flexibility, loads of differing lengths may be stored on the same rack and even at the same level.
Cantilever rack is the ideal solution for storing long or heavy items such as: Pipe, tubing or lumber. In addition furniture, carpet rolls or building materials odd-sized dimensions store exceptionally well and are removed without damage due to excessive maneuvering around vertical or horizontal obstructions.
• Solid one-piece column design
• Completely welded base construction
• Wedge-type connectors, secure the arms in place
• Heavy gauge beams securely hold the loads
• Guide rails make for quick and easy operation of order picker
• Free standing upright columns, up to 48’ No need to top tie which restricts maneuvering of furniture on upper locations
Specialty Racks
MWS, Inc. has the ability to design & fabricate specialty storage rack for custom applications, such as:
• Lumber storage & handling.
• Sheet metal / Long length metal storage & handling.
• Small parts bin - nuts and bolts storage.
Lumber Cradle Racks were designed to keep bundles of lumber or any other products neat and secure once the banding straps have been cut. The advantage to using the lumber cradle is; the products are placed onto the rack, the lands are cut and the lumber cradle can immediately be moved by a forklift without the product being rebanded and the stack falling over.
Lumber Cradles are ideal for 4’ x 4’ or 4’ x 8’ bundles of non-palletized products. The removable 4 corner posts allow quick and easy access to the product with a forklift or by hand picking. Lumber Cradles are designed for 2,500# product weights.
The Sheet Metal Rack improves the handling and storing of flat material. The drawers pull out from the floor allowing immediate access for placement and retrieval of material with a crane. Loading can be achieved with the use of a magnet, sheet lift, slings, or vacuum lifter. The rack can greatly compliment production machinery such as a shear, laser cutter, and press brake. This is a simple and inexpensive way to accomplish a manufacturing cell further enhancing productivity.
